Dr Helen Sweeting completed her medical training through the University of Sydney, later completing General Practice training in the Northern Territory. She has had a long standing interest in the psycho-social and clinical aspects of managing those with addiction. With a move to Melbourne in 2002, her focus shifted to a more dedicated role in the clinical management of patients with addiction.

She completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Melbourne, specialising in substance use and addiction, and completed the Fellowship of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2008 through St Vincent’s Health in Melbourne.  Areas of interest have been Aboriginal health and comorbid chronic non-malignant pain and addiction. More recently she has sought a deeper understanding of the management of transference and countertransference in the clinical setting of addiction, undertaking introductory training in the area of psychoanalytical psychotherapy.

She has private consulting rooms and admitting rights to Delmont Private Hospital.
